On stage
Keynote · 09:40
How education connects with real jobs, and why what schools teach and what companies need have to meet in the middle.
Panel · 10:15
Voices from software engineering, cloud, agritech and law on the many routes into tech, including the ones that are not engineering.
11:30 – 13:00 · Six at once
Six simultaneous 90-minute tracks, each designed to move from big ideas to something participants could try for themselves.
How writing software has changed: from hand-written code and legacy systems to prompting LLMs and AI agents that write and change code.
What we did
Walked through the software development life cycle and the roles in a software team, then explored a sample repository with AI agents built into the workflow.
MentorsSolomon Eshun (lead), El Karece Asiedu, Hillary Thelma Laryea, Stephen Ofori, Elisha Amenuveve
How intelligent systems learn: the difference between AI and machine learning, and supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning.
What we did
Followed the model pipeline from collecting and preparing data to training, evaluating and improving a model.
MentorsMawunyo Avornyo (lead), Linford Ofori
How hardware connects with software and the internet.
What we did
Built an automated security-gate barrier that detects an approaching vehicle and opens by itself. Everyone finished the build and saw it work.
MentorsSylvian Kimkpe (lead), Nathaniel Asiak, Zenas Kwaku Awuku, Doreen Edwina Otoo
Raspberry Pi Pico, ultrasonic sensor, servo motor and breadboard
The teams that protect systems: Red Team (attack simulation), Blue Team (defence) and Purple Team (both), plus governance, risk and compliance.
What we did
Mapped the roles inside each team, with an interactive game to explore after the session.
MentorsElikplim Kasu (lead), Get Skills Network team
Design beyond looks: user research, empathy mapping and wireframing.
What we did
Explored how intuitive design decides whether a tech product succeeds.
MentorsWilson Addo (lead), Elpidio Tossou
From Web 1 to Web 3: how a blockchain stores data across many computers so it is secure, transparent and hard to tamper with.
What we did
Learned public and private keys through simple analogies and had a first look at the Move programming language and the Sui blockchain.
MentorsSamuel Akpah (lead), Juliet Uju

In their words
The event deepened my understanding of the importance of curiosity and mentorship in the tech space, encouraging me to always ask questions and explore deeply. The highlight for me was the breakout session on Web3 and blockchain technology, which opened my eyes to new ideas and opportunities within this emerging field.
As a member of the protocol team, I had the opportunity to interact with professionals and fellow students, gain insight into emerging technologies in the country, and develop my teamwork skills. Ultimately, the experience deepened my interest in technology and innovation among young people.
The highlight of the Tech & Beyond Expo for me wasn't just the sessions, but the people. Joining the Software Engineering track gave me the chance to listen and exchange ideas with some of the brightest minds in Ghana's tech space.
